The Hill Station Tennis Club is Support Sports in Sierra Leone’s flagship program. Through the Hill Station Tennis Club, Support Sports in Sierra Leone supports and encourages a cohort of teens and pre-teens to learn to play tennis.
Our Purpose
The goal of the program is to provide youth with a healthy activity, to combat engagement in anti-social activities, to address food insecurity issues faced by the participants, encourage the participants to pursue classroom education, and to educate participants about important issues that affect them.
Our Impact
Participants in this program receive a weekly tennis lesson. They are also provided with tennis shoes, hydration liquids during and after lessons, and a post-lesson meal. Volunteer coaches from the Sierra Leone Lawn Tennis Association provide coaching and equipment.
Participants also take part in educational activities related to the following topics:
- Protecting the environment
- Culture
- History
- Civic responsibility and civic pride
At the end of the program, participants are gifted a backpack of school supplies.
